Glossary
IRC	IRC is an acronym for Internet Relay Chat. Internet Relay Chat is a facility that allows multiple Internet users from different places around the world, to chat in real time. Unlike the typical one on one chatting in the familiar Instant Messaging clients, IRC allows everybody to chat with everybody in a given "channel" in real time.
IRC Server	There are many IRC networks around the world. Each network is independent of the other networks. In order to chat, two (or more) people must both be on the same IRC network in order to chat. Each network is composed of one or more servers designed to balance the load across thousands of users. Individuals need only to be on the same network to chat. They can be on different servers.
IRC Client	In order to connect an IRC network, you must first have a special program on your own computer that can talk to an IRC server. Your computer, with this software installed, becomes a "client" to a particular network's server. There are dozens of applications available that you can run on your computer. Channel	Each network is further subdivided into areas of interest. Any person who connects to a network can create a new area of interest. These areas of interest are generally referred to as channels. And "areas of interest" really does not do these channels justice, since really anybody who wants to create a channel, for any purpose, can.
Find Us
Once you have downloaded and installed the IRC client software that you want to use, your next step is to connect to an IRC server in the appropriate network. #Triviaworld is on the DalNet network. Your IRC client should list the available servers for the DalNet IRC network. Connect to any of them. Once you have joined the network, you can join the #triviaworld channel. In mIRC, you can type in any window's typing area:/join #triviaworld to get to us. You can list the other channels on DalNet by typing /list in any window's typing area. But why would you want to?
